Association Emmanuel is the only provincial resource specifically committed to the adoption of children with a disabilities or special needs for whom social services are unable to find an adoptive family.
Through its network, its services and the mutual support of its members, the Association Emmanuel accompanies families throughout the adoption process and beyond.
The Association fulfills its mission by:
- Working in collaboration with the province’s CISSS/ CIUSSS to promote the adoption of special-needs children;
- Recruiting and accompanying families willing to apply to adopt such children, in accordance with Quebec laws and regulations;
- Offering pre- and post-adoption follow-up to member families;
- Supporting families by appropriate means: meetings for sharing, mutual aid or training, respite assistance, family resourcing, etc.
