Find a family for Jaco (pseudonym)

Jaco* is a 6-year-old boy. Since he was born, his life has been a story of perseverance.

Discover his story

Hello, my name is Jaco* and I’m 6 years old. The Association Emmanuel and my adoption service have been looking for a family for me for over three years now. It’s been a long time. In addition, I haven’t heard from my birth family since 2021.

I have Autism Spectrum Disorder (Level 2–3). Sleeping is sometimes difficult for me, so I take medication to help. When I was a baby, I was sadly the victim of abusive head trauma (shaken baby syndrome).

My vocabulary grows every day. I sometimes use echolalia in the right context and in delayed contexts. I understand everything. I point to show what I want, and I’m able to connect with the adults around me. People say I’m a cheerful, pleasant little boy.

Since I don’t yet have a good sense of danger, I need close supervision and constant support to keep me safe.

I also have a few medical follow-ups: pediatrics, neurology, occupational therapy every two weeks, speech therapy, and ophthalmology. It would be wonderful to have a caring and loving family accompany me to all these appointments.

More than anything, I would love to have my own little safe room where I could play quietly with my toys.

I’m a child with special needs, but I have so much love to give in return.

Could you be my family?

Jaco* deserves to find his place. At the Association Emmanuel, our goal is to find him a family for life.
