Find a family for Nathan (Pseudonym)

Nathan* is a curious and adventurous 2-year-old boy.

Discover his story

Hello, my name is Nathan* and I’m 2 years old.

I am a curious and adventurous little boy. I love exploring my surroundings and discovering the world around me. Since I still have very little understanding of danger, however, I need to be supervised at all times to ensure my safety.

I am nonverbal, and my ability to understand verbal instructions remains limited. I can hear well, but I don’t react much to sounds or to my first name. I am currently awaiting a developmental assessment to better understand my unique capabilities and needs. I have received a preliminary diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD).

At the moment, I have little interaction with the other children in my environment. I need gentle, consistent support to gradually develop my communication, social, and play skills.

I need help with certain tasks. I don’t use utensils to eat yet, and I have some food-related rigidities.

My sleep is fragile and I wake up frequently during the night. A stable and predictable routine helps me feel secure and makes my daily life easier.

When I’m stressed or overstimulated, I may exhibit certain behaviors, such as rocking, biting myself, or hitting myself. At times like these, it’s important to have a calm, attentive, and reassuring adult present to help me get through these moments, while respecting my sensory sensitivity.

I am a child who faces several challenges, but I am also full of curiosity and have so much to discover! Surrounded by caring, attentive, and supportive adults, I will be able to continue to grow, learn, and thrive at my own pace.

Maybe my place is right next to you?

Nathan* deserves to find his place. At the Association Emmanuel, our goal is to find him a family for life.
