Find a family for Romeo (pseudonym)

Romeo* is 4 years old. Ever since he was born, his life has been a series of small challenges.

Discover his story

Hello, my name is Romeo*, and I’m just 4 years old.

I am a calm and gentle little boy. I have global developmental delay, and I’m currently undergoing genetic investigation to better understand what’s affecting me. They’ve detected epileptic waves in my brain, but I’ve never had any physical symptoms or seizures. I have a lot of challenges with solid foods; I have dysphagia, so we need to take the time to work on that.

I’m making progress at my own pace. I’m starting to walk while holding onto the walls, and I go up and down the stairs on all my hands and knees. It takes time, patience, and perseverance, but every little victory fills me with pride.

I now make eye contact. I smile often, and I like to reach out my arms. I do not have behavioral outbursts, and my gentle personality makes spending time with me a pleasure.

I see my parents once every two weeks.

Right now, I’m being supported by several professionals who are helping me grow: an occupational therapist, a speech-language pathologist, and I’m also receiving genetic counseling.

I need a family that can provide me with a stable and loving home. A family that can see beyond the diagnoses and support me with tenderness.

Could that be you?

Romeo* deserves to find his place. At the Association Emmanuel, our goal is to find him a family for life.
